Books I read in March, April and May [Jun. 13th, 2006|09:11 pm]

13 - The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
14 - Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz
15 - Velocity by Dean Koontz
16 - Shattered by Dean Koontz
17 - Tick Tock by Dean Koontz
18 - The Voice Of The Night by Dean Koontz
19 - Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs
20 - Little People by Tom Holt
21 - Mia Goes Forth by Meg Cabot

A lot of Dean Koontz! I read The Da Vinci Code which took about two months because it was SO FUCKING BORING. And terribly written and I honestly had no patience with it. So then I had to read two Dean Koontz books as soon as possible to cleanse my brain. And then I didn't read anything for ages, and then I was away this week, and literally just grabbed to read the only books I hadn't read in my room, which turned out to be a couple of Dean Koontzes, plus two Koontz books from the library, plus the Burroughs book which my friend lent me (which was excellent, btw). And then I finished all my books really fast, because I had more travelling than I thought, and had to go to a second hand bookshop to buy more, and ended up buying yet another Koontz, and a Tom Holt (also, excellent). And now I'm reading Fear Nothing, again by Dean Koontz, because it was the only book in my room I hadn't read.

Next month... less Dean Koontz. Probably. But he is awesome. You should read his books. *nodnod*

ETA: Oh, also, a Princess Diaries book, because I was at my friend's house, and I was bored, and ended up reading the whole book. It was good.

I am going through a phase of trying to rediscover reading - I only have a five minute train journey to work now (and then half an hour of walking) so I don't get much of a chance to sit and read on public transport, like I did. It means that I have to make more of an effort to sit and read, which is why I'm going through all those books from last year that everyone went on about then. I come to things late - but it means that they're all, like, 1p on Amazon. Hey, that's how much I paid for The Da Vinci Code, which is up next.

All three of the aforementioned books were superb, by the way.

So, I abandoned the 2005 book list. I am trying again to keep it up in 2006. Just titles, no descriptions, cos that's what I got bored of doing last time.

1 - Thud! by Terry Pratchett
2 - The Demon Headmaster (reread) by Gillian Cross
3 - The Demon Headmaster and the Prime Minister's Brain (reread) by Gillian Cross
4 - The Revenge of the Demon Headmaster by Gillian Cross
5 - The Demon Headmaster Strikes Again by Gillian Cross
6 - The Demon Headmaster Takes Over by Gillian Cross
7 - Facing The Demon Headmaster by Gillian Cross
8 - Night Watch (reread) by Terry Pratchett
9 - The Portable Door by Tom Holt

STATISTICS

Children's novels: 5
Reread: 3
Adult novels: 3 (inc. reread)

Comments: The Demon Headmaster books were part of a nostalgia trip. Don't judge me. The first was still good, the rest got dull and samey.

Currently reading: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon.

[Current Mood |boredbored]

I realised I hadn’t updated this in a while and was losing track of the books I had read, so I decided while at work to just quickly make a note of the books I had read since January:

Book #4: ‘A Hat Full of Sky’ by Terry Pratchett
Book #5: ‘Going Postal’ by Terry Pratchett
Book #6 ‘Intensity’ by Dean Koontz
Book #7: ‘By The Light Of The Moon’ by Dean Koontz
Book #8: ‘Hideaway’ by Dean Koontz
Book #9: ‘The Lives of Christopher Chant’ by Diana Wynne Jones
Book #10: ‘Dark Rivers of the Heart’ by Dean Koontz
Book #11: ‘The Lovely Bones’ by Alice Sebold (still reading)

Then later, I will write more detailed descriptions of them. I have a sneaking suspicion that I've missed something, anyway...
